This is the project that inspired the book.

These are some of the cars my kids and I built. They were all fast, but the two in the middle were exceptional. Black Widow won the den, pack and placed 3rd in the district. Timber won the den, pack, district and an "all comers" race that the National Scout Museum in Irving, Tx.
